Cali has come a long way. She has a major fear of other dogs, no matter what size they are. When Cali was about six months old, a bunch of us and our dogs were out playing after a dog show. As all the dogs were loose and playing other friends and dogs joined. The pack became pretty big. Cali was out in front, running when the pack started to chase. At this point her fear became terror and she screamed and ran. The dynamics of the pack instantly changed and play turned into the hunt. She ran back to me as fast as she could, in blind terror. Though she was not hurt, she was completely traumatized.
When we started agility training, she literally could not handle being around any other dogs. She now has earned her MX and MXJ. She still has major problems with dogs outside the ring while she is running but she now recovers after she has a "melt down". Though she will never be 100% confident while running, she is an incredible girl and has overcome so much.
Cali "the brave" I love and miss you. The
Windmill gang will always miss you. You were the one who could find
the tennis ball when no one else could. You were the one who took
care of everyone in the pack. Rest in peace Cali. |
